Bank Independent seeking branch at Target center

Bank Independent plans to build a branch at The Crossings of Decatur, the Target-anchored shopping center set to open in October.

The bank is applying for permission to open the branch from the Federal Reserve Board. Representatives of the bank were not immediately available for comment Friday.

Bank Independent, based in Sheffield, has two offices in Decatur. It also has branches in Hartselle and Moulton.

The bank’s Decatur offices are among 13 it purchased from Colonial Bank in 2005.
