He was one of nine retailers receiving the award.

Sandlin received the Gold Award in the “Annual Sales More Than $5 million” category.

Sandlin also won the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce’s 2007 Small-Business Person of the Year award. Pay-Less has won The Daily’s Best of the Best pharmacy honors three years in a row.

Sandlin is a 1969 graduate of The University of Alabama and a 1973 graduate of Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy.

Jones received the award from the Alabama Retail Association, in cooperation with The University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Jones also owns Mike’s Merchandise stores in Huntsville, Guntersville, Auburn and Muscle Shoals.

His first store, in Guntersville, began as a resale business for merchandise obtained at auction.

His stores sell tools, books, clothing, linens, pet supplies and other merchandise.

An independent panel of judges selected Jones for
the solid expansion of his
business, promoting the retail industry to students and
his company’s use of technology.

Brown, who joined NASA and the Marshall Center this month, will assist the chief financial officer in overseeing implementation and administration of all integrated Marshall and NASA financial management systems tied to the NASA field center’s annual budget of approximately $2.6 billion.

Previously, Brown was executive director of finance operations for ConAgra Food Ingredients of Omaha, Neb.

A native of Webb City, Mo., he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1996 from Missouri Southern State University.

He earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix in Arizona in 2004.

Brown lives in Decatur with his wife, Erin.

Brown recently served as a mortgage consultant at Wachovia Mortgage Corp.

She was president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Birmingham in 1989.

Brown earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Jefferson State Junior College in Birmingham. She lives in Decatur.

Harry Waugh has been promoted to commercial real estate executive and will lead the commercial real estate team, and Sean Kelly has been promoted to commercial banking executive and will lead the commercial and industrial banking team.

Waugh, a 27-year Regions veteran, began his career in 1980 in Birmingham.

Waugh received his bachelors’ degree in business administration from Auburn University, his master’s in business administration from Samford University, and he attended
the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University.

Kelly started his career with Regions in the management training program in Birmingham in 1993.
