Barnstormers win Battle of Bands, chance to play at Brick on New Year’s

The Barnstormers won the Battle of the Bands on Saturday as part of the Downtown Merchants Association’s Halloween Hoot.

“As the winners, they get to play The Brick on New Year’s Eve,” said Chester Cox, who coordinated the band event. He said they are “a country folk type band, kind of rockabilly in a way.”

Second place went to the rock band Chaos and Disorder, while Torn Curtain, a Christian band, came in third.

“I believe we have some future stars among us, because there was some really good talent there,” Cox said.

The group Stolen Grace helped by supplying the sound system, he said.

“It went real well, and I’m hoping we can make this a regular annual event,” Cox said. “Maybe next year we can have several different categories and include a talent contest for singers, too.”
