The Daily names new Living editor

The Decatur Daily has named Andrea Brunty as its new Living editor.

Brunty has been a copy editor at the newspaper since she graduated in 2004 from The University of Alabama.

As a copy editor she helped design The Daily’s front page and Riverfront.

Brunty was part of a team that won first place for deadline page design in the 2005 Alabama Associated Press Managing Editors Contest. She also led a committee that helped redesign The Daily in November 2006.

“We are always delighted when we can fill a management position from within the Daily family,” Executive Editor Tom Wright said. “Andrea is a bright young journalist who will be an asset to the Living department.”

While at The University of Alabama, Brunty was a copy editor and staff reporter for The Crimson White. She received her bachelor’s degree in journalism with minors in computer technology and human development.

She is a 2000 graduate of Grissom High School in Huntsville.
