Dotyfest brings bands together in Cullman

Ladies and gentlemen, start your air guitars.

If you like to rock out and support local music, mark your calendar for Friday’s Dotyfest 2007 at 6:30 p.m., an all-ages gathering of seven bands from Christian, emo, rock and hardcore backgrounds.

The second annual Dotyfest (named after 22-year-old founder Kyle Doty, Forshadow guitarist) will take place at the Cullman Civic Center in Cullman.

The music video for Cullman-based ForShadow’s song “Lori” will be shot at the event.

Doty said he expects a crowd of 500 to 600 to attend this year’s event. A guitar built by Doty himself will be raffled off again this year.

The event should be anything but ordinary, he said.

“I’ve got some of the most intense bands around here,” he said. “I made sure it’s going to be performers.”

Selling Mary, Halfdown Thomas, Braver by the 2nd, Beyond Me, ForShadow, Chalk and The Spring will all play.

Tickets are $5. For more information, visit www.myspace.com/dotyfest2007 or call (256) 507-3248.
