Live music at Autism Awareness event

Baseball players will be competing at the Decatur Storm Autism Awareness Tournament this weekend. But the third annual tournament at Wilson Morgan Park offers much more than a sporting event.

The family-friendly entertainment starts with opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Live music, hot-air balloon rides, clowns and face-painting will be part of the fun.

More than 8,000 butterflies made by Decatur students and church groups will be on display at the park. You can attempt to win a guitar autographed by Bo Bice and Sugar Money. The guitar, purchased by Bice while he was on "American Idol," will be auctioned off Saturday.

Weekend passes are $12, which include access to the baseball games. A single day pass is $6.

A $5 weekend pass is available to just see the bands. It is good for all five performances:

Friday:

  • Bishop Black, 7 p.m.

    Saturday:

  • Chaos N Disorder, noon

  • Young at Heart, 4 p.m.

  • Tim Tucker and the Uh-Huhs, 7 p.m.

    Sunday:

  • OwingAdam, 1 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Autism Society of Alabama.
