Junior Miss invites girls to join state program

While Morgan and Lawrence counties have local competitions where a panel of judges select the Junior Miss, some others do not.

For young women living in Limestone and other counties where no program is held, Alabama’s Junior Miss Inc. will host a statewide at-large program in Birmingham to choose representatives.

The at-large program will be Aug. 11 at Birmingham-Southern College for those who will be high-school seniors in the fall.

The 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. event will include a talent performance, as well as learning two choreographed numbers for the self-expression and fitness categories.

Academic records will be examined for the scholastics category, and a panel of judges will interview each participant.

The Lawrence County competition will be Saturday, while programs are scheduled June 16 in Cullman County and Sept. 30 in Morgan County.

For more information about the Junior Miss scholarship program, or to find your county’s program director and see if a competition is scheduled, check www.ajm.org or e-mail Cathy Ballant at Catballant@aol.com.
