Former Miss Point Mallard crowned new Miss Alabama

A former Miss Point Mallard is the new Miss Alabama.

Jamie Langley of Wadley, who was crowned Miss Point Mallard during 2004 Spirit of America festivities, won the state crown Saturday in Birmingham.

The singer competed this year as Miss Painted Rock.

The third runner-up was another former Miss Point Mallard. Katie Boyd of Hoover, who represented the Decatur area in 2005-06, competed as Miss Tombigbee.

Also in the top five were Miss University of North Alabama Colene Burns of Hayden, first runner-up; Miss Chelsea Area Elizabeth Cochran of Helena, second runner-up; and Miss Trussville Whitney Weldon of Pinson, fourth.

The top 10 also included Jenna Bryant and Alicia Lewis of Hoover, Ryan Omenski of Huntsville, Haley Arrington of Glencoe and Barbara Cline of Birmingham.
