Studdard performs in Decatur

As part of Sunday’s “Celebrate America” program sponsored by Calvary Assembly of God, 2003 American Idol winner Ruben Studdard dazzled the audience with his hit songs. Studdard of Birmingham was the last stage performance during an event that lasted more than five hours and concluded with a fireworks show. “We wanted to provide some wholesome entertainment for people in the area and celebrate America’s birthday,” Calvary Pastor George Sawyer said. More than 1,000 people attended the outdoor event, which was held at Calvary Assembly’s property on Alabama 20 west of Interstate 65.
