Members of Falkville High School's Class of 1957 gathered June 2 for a 50-year reunion and family-style dinner by the Yoders at "The Old Cookstove."

In the front row are, from left: Katie Sue Hardin, Gayle Hargrove Foote, teacher Elsie Culbreath, teacher Eloise Tanner Maddox, former class member Lois Nell Williams Pickens and Sophia Carroll Steele; second row: former class member Georgia Mae Wilhite Barber, Ola Mae Wright Coleman, Loy Nell Bryan Jones, John Knight, Allen Holmes, Marlon Tapscott, Joe Murphy, Aubrey Davenport, Geraldine Cloer Holmes, Jane Minter Padgett and Katie Faye Hardiman Abernathy; back row: Rufus Penn, Arthur Ray Summerford, Bobby Alford, Billy Joe Buckelew, Bobby Childers, Lester Nuby, Russell Ward, Joe Lee Anders and Edward Higdon.

The 37-member class graduated May 28, 1957, included valedictorian John Knight Jr. and salutatorian Ernest Morris.

At the reunion, class members got tags with their senior pictures, and school colors of blue and gold were displayed. Ed Higdon was master of ceremonies. Ola Mae Wright Coleman called the roll, and Jane Minter Padgett passed out folders of information about what class members had been doing. Aubrey Davenport sang some "homegrown" songs, and Allen Holmes played some bluegrass on the guitar, harmonica and banjo and sang a song he wrote. Photos of six deceased classmates were displayed with an arrangement of the class flowers: blue and white carnations. Another reunion is planned next year.
