‘Elvis Remembered’ concert at Princess

Haven’t seen Elvis lately?

Next week you can take in the annual “Elvis Remembered” show featuring Michael Dean and Memphis.

Showtime will be 8 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts.

Gayle Root, who is helping organize the event, said proceeds from the show will go to a foundation that gives scholarships to students in North Alabama.

“This year, which is the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ death, will be our seventh year to do this show,” Root said.

J.D. Sumner and The Stamps Quartet sang backup for Presley in all his 1970s concerts and were with him up until his death in 1977, she said. “So they come in once a year and back up Michael Dean for his ‘Elvis Remembered’ show.”

Tickets, which are for reserved seats, are $20 each. Call 350-8660, 565-4697 or 773-0708.
