Buy a brick, help fund a playground

The Junior League of Morgan County wants you to help pave the way.

Brick pavers in Delano Park to help fund the planned Playground for All Children will be an emphasis of the Junior League this fall.

Watch for brochures in the mail this week, said Karen Tidwell, League community vice president.

“You can purchase an engraved brick in honor or memory of someone special, or you can make a donation in someone’s honor or memory,” said Tidwell.

To purchase a brick or make a donation to the playground, visit, or contact any Junior League member for an application.

Civic groups can get involved, too, and the league will provide speakers for programs, said Tidwell. Call her at 560-3027.

The pavers will be placed near the playground at the park, which hopefully will be completed next year.

“These bricks will pave the way for all children of our community to enjoy a playground for all,” said Katherine Lawson, signature project chairwoman for the league. “We hope to break ground in the spring on the surfacing and play structures, while continuing to raise the funds needed to pay for them,” she said.

Junior League president Alicia Nails said the brick pavers projects, such as the Charity Horse Show on Oct. 17-20 that the volunteer group will sponsor for the first time, are part of its ongoing effort to improve the community through donating time and raising money.
