GIGAs tells story of a king coming to Rumors Mill
In a hurry the other day at Wal-Mart, I jumped up on the back of my buggy and rode through the parking lot, laughing along the way and hoping no one would notice me. Whew! I almost made it to the car when I heard a voice, “It feels good to act like a kid, doesn’t it?”
I don’t know who the man was, but I smiled and he laughed. It actually made my day to realize that someone else finds joy in small things.
As we celebrate this Christmas Eve and look forward to all Christmas Day will bring, may you rest in the small things — the small packages, the small treats, the small joys, and most of all, the small, precious baby that came to save us all.
Merry Christmas!
Now let’s see what the “chatter” is for today...
‘A King is Coming to Town’
An unusual take on the Christmas story came to life this past Sunday evening at First Bible Church as the Girls in God’s Arms presented their annual Christmas musical, “A King is Coming to Town.”
The lively story, directed by Karen Keith, looked at a town called Rumors Mill that prepared for a king’s coming. The only problem was that no one knew what king would arrive. Would it be the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, King Tut or the all-famous King of the Jungle?
More than 30 young ladies in third through fifth grades worked since August to pull the acting and musical numbers together, culminating in the realization that Jesus was the king who would soon come.
GIGAs taking part included Charlee Anderson, Olivia Bolton, Whitney Button, Elizabeth Croft, Cicily Crow, April Fulkerson, Dawn Fulkerson, Leann Gillespie, Taylor Hester, Haley Jared, Jala Karrh, Madison Keith, Caroline Kirsch, Adriana Lowry, Savannah Markham, Athena Markham, Victoria Matthews, Mary Ann McDougal, Barrett Moebes, Rebekah Naler, Angela Paulin, Jill Paulin, Audra Reeves, Jessie Schoel, Mallie Sedlak, Sarah Jane Swanson, Anna Beth Trotter, Allie Varwig, Madelynn Vinton, Jocelyn Wiliams, Carmyn Wozniak and Dominque Wozniak.
Assisting Keith were leaders Earlene Baker, Sandra Cain, Bess Frasier, Laura Graham, Kim Jared, Karen Keith, Christi Sanders, Lesley Swanson and Robin Williams.
