Junior League has festive party at Carnegie
Wendy’s word
Happy New Years Eve! It seems impossible to believe that another year has come and gone. As we embark on 2007, may it be a safe and blessed year ahead. May the resolutions, hopes and dreams that dwell in your heart stay at the forefront, guiding your thoughts and actions with each new day.
To all who have taken the time to share what’s gone on in your life this past year, I say a special thank you.
To all who have celebrated a birthday, anniversary or unforgettable time with family and friends, I appreciate you sharing those times with our readers. It will indeed be a pleasure to hear from you in 2007 and to share the chat as we all begin a new chapter of life together.
Now, let’s see what the talk is around town on this last day of 2006 . . .
Junior League celebrates
Junior League of Morgan County met recently at Carnegie Visual Arts Center for a festive time of fun and fellowship.
Guests enjoyed mingling and dining on tasty finger foods, such as tomatoes with lemon pepper seasoning, assorted cheesecakes, baklava, shrimp cocktail and a relish tray, all provided by Allison Crowe.
Table decorations were created by Patricia Thrasher.
“A great time was had by all,” said Junior Leaguer Tracy Blaxton. “It is wonderful that this community service group can get together during the holidays and reflect on the fun times we have had and the positive difference we have made in our community while working hard throughout the year.”
Women’s Connection
Everyone is invited to bring in the New Year this Friday with the Women’s Connection. In keeping with the beginning of a new year, the theme “Celebrating a New Year” will feature Dawn Holiday of Curves for Women in Hartselle and guest speaker Jean Ann Campbell. The luncheon begins at 11 a.m. at Decatur Country Club.
Holiday will give away a complimentary membership, while Campbell will speak on the topic “From Fear to Freedom.” She is an art teacher and assistant director of a food distribution in Sylacauga.
The cost of the luncheon is $13.
For reservations and complimentary nursery care, contact Nancy Fortune at 340-0113 or nbfortune@mindspring.com or Maxine Hall at 773-4978 or Hornet@ieee.org.
With the holidays behind us we can reflect on the many happy times with family, friends and loved ones. Perhaps, you had a gathering you would like to share. If it featured any of the great people who live in our community, it would make a great Chatterbox item. Let me know what’s going on in your corner of the world.
