Decatur girl wins Model Search

Point Mallard Park has the featured model for its 2007 advertising campaign.

Professional photographers David Higginbotham, Jonathan Palmer and Mark Davis chose Decatur's Whitney Laughmiller as the winner of the first Point Mallard Model Search.

They chose the 19-year-old from 32 models after photographing them Friday at Point Mallard's J. Gilmer Blackburn Aquatic Center.

Laughmiller is a student at The University of Alabama. She enjoys working out, shopping, running and spending time with family. She stands 5 feet 6 and has dark brown hair with hazel eyes.

Winners from a teen and children model search on Aug. 19 and Sept. 2 will join Laughmiller in its 2007 advertising campaign.

She will receive a prize package worth more than $1,500, including in-studio and on-location professional photo sessions and prints from photographers Higginbotham, Davis, Esco Olinger and Julianne Lowman. Lowman was also the event organizer and marketing consultant for Point Mallard.

In addition, Laughmiller will receive a professional media makeup session from Heather Partain, dinner for two at Fire Mountain restaurant and a 2007 season pass to the aquatic center.

The 10 top-scoring models were Laughmiller; Reverie Choppell, 19, Hartselle; Melissa Ford, 18, Decatur; Kristi Green, 30, Trinity; Karyn Hill, 28, Decatur; Roxana Monroy, 18, Decatur; Lucilia Mizerani, 18, Huntsville; Heather Matthews, 18, Huntsville; Tierra Johnson, 18, Tuscumbia; and Amber Gerardi, 21, Albertville.
