If you're cleaning and run across old things that you no longer want, toss them and take them to district shops 2 or 4.

Saturday is fall cleanup day in Morgan County.

You don't have to wait until then because the shops are accepting household castaways all week. Also, residents may take items to the Decatur-Morgan County Regional Landfill on Alabama 20.

District 1 is opening for the public Saturday only because of its location near the landfill.

District 3 shop is not participating at this time because of a conflict with Eva Frontier Days.

The District 3 shop will have a separate cleanup week Oct. 16-21, according to County Commission Chairman John Glasscock.

Districts 2 and 4 have been accepting items since Monday and will continue through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to Garbage Director Ricky Brooks.

District 2 shop will open from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. District 4 and District 1 will open from 7 a.m. until noon.

Those who take items to the landfill must present proof of residency in the county and there will be no charge for dumping.

Unacceptable items include shingles, tires, household garbage, lumber and hazardous chemicals.

Shop locations are: District 1, Central Parkway Southwest, Decatur; District 2, Shull Road, Hartselle; District 4, Union Hill Road, Cotaco.
