The United Launch Alliance, a merger of the governmental satellite-launch divisions of Boeing Co. and Lockheed Martin Corp., wasted no time putting its label on the former Boeing plant on Red Hat Road in Decatur.

The letters of the displaced Boeing sign, replaced Tuesday, lie on the grass in the foreground. ULA will produce essentially all rockets for U.S. government satellites.

In the short term, the joint venture will add 100 employees at the Decatur plant.
