Robber with holes in shirt takes money from Athens store
By Holly Hollman
ATHENS — A robber sashayed into a convenience store Tuesday with a gray T-shirt pulled over his head and a knife in his hand.
“He had cut holes cut in it so he could see out of the shirt,” Athens police Capt. Marty Bruce said. The man demanded money from the female clerk, who handed over a small amount of cash, Bruce said.
The robbery occurred at the J-Mart on U.S. 72 West at 1:30 a.m.
“He left walking on 72 toward Tennessee Valley Wholesalers, where he may have gotten into a car,” Bruce said.
Tennessee Valley is at U.S. 72 and Brownsferry Street.
The clerk said the man was white, about 6 feet tall and weighed 150 pounds. Anyone with information may call police at 233-8700.
