Giggling Claras

Tori Barrentine, left, and Meredith Gray, who share the role of Dream Clara in Dancers Inc. productions of Tchaikovsky’s ballet “The Nutcracker,” share a laugh during a recent rehearsal break. Both are seniors at Decatur High School. The ballet, a holiday classic, tells the story of a nutcracker given to Clara as a Christmas present. After she and her family go to sleep, it comes to life and does battle with the Mouse King. “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy”and “Waltz of the Flowers”are two favorite scenes. Productions are Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. at Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets, available at the door or by calling 353-2996, are $12 adults and $10 children 10 and under and senior citizens. Guest artists include two dancers from Columbus (Ga.)Ballet, two former members of Atlanta Ballet and former Miss Point Mallard Katie Boyd.
