Hartselle man issues challenge for Salvation Army

HARTSELLE — If you are retired or you just don't have anything to do, Dan Dobbs of Hartselle has a challenge for you.

Beginning today at noon, Dobbs will ring the bell for the Salvation Army at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on U.S. 31.

"I'm going to ring it all this week and the biggest part of next week," he said. "I am challenging people to get involved and help the Salvation Army."

Dobbs, who is retired from the military and postal service, said he likes to hunt deer at this time of year.

"But I can do that after Christmas," he said. "Right now, I'm going to stay at home and help. I know there are other retirees who have the time to do the same things."
