Birmingham owner seeks rehearing on ruling against sweepstakes

MONTGOMERY (AP) — Dog track owner Milton McGregor is asking the court to reconsider its ruling banning electronic sweepstakes games from his Birmingham track.

On Dec. 1, the court ruled 8-0 that the electronic games are illegal gambling devices.

On Friday, lawyers for Milton McGregor asked the court to reconsider the decision. The games have continued to operate.

In a statement, McGregor said some justices let their personal political views determine the outcome of the litigation.
