Decatur police arrest 3 in robbery at apartments
Decatur police Friday arrested three Decatur juveniles and charged them with first-degree robbery following an incident earlier in the day.
Police said Mario Bello Esteban was visiting friends in the Cardinal Apartments on 14th Street Southeast when two males approached him, one armed with a handgun. Police said they took Estebanís wallet, threw him to the ground and fled in a small white car.
Patrol Officer Rance Sutherlin saw a suspicious car matching the description minutes later on 14th Street. Sutherlin stopped the car and identified two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old. Police said the officer found a handgun, marijuana and a significant amount of cash inside the car.
Police determined that two of the juveniles robbed Esteban and the third drove the getaway car. Police recovered the money.
Police transferred the juveniles to the Morgan County Jail. An officer Saturday said the jail released two of them on $10,000 bond each.
The third remains in jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
