Athens City Council
On Monday, the Athens City Council:
Approved organizational chart for the Customer Service Department.
Approved resolution condemning property for the widening of Roy Long Road.
Approved submitting pre-application to the Alabama State Revolving Fund to help finance a waste-water treatment plant upgrade project, estimated to cost $25 million. Project would be financed through $15 million in grant funds and the $10 million SRF loan.
Approved $65.76 for Gary Scroggins, Athens Utility manager, to attend Electric Cities meeting in Birmingham.
Approved Athens Utility to adjust electricity rates to pass along TVA's quarterly fuel cost adjustment. Starting Jan. 1, customers' bill will increase about 14 cents per month.
Decatur Planning Commission
The commission took the following actions at its regular meeting Tuesday:
Consolidated two lots in Valley Park Subdivision, Addition 1, southeast of the Boxwood Lane and Pinedale Road and east of Whitney Lane Southwest into one tract of 0.58 acres for Herman T. Moore.
Consolidated two tracts south of McGlathery Lane and west of Veterans Drive Southeast into one tract of 0.44 acres for Nancy Pitts.
Consolidated and re-subdivided two tracts south of Church Street and east of 10th Avenue Northeast into tracts of 1.95 and 0.13 acres for Decatur Utilities.
Subdivided 12.31 acres north of Kayo Road and east of Jones Road into tracts of 8.54 acres and 3.77 acres for Brandon Betterton.
Subdivided 19.47 acres south of Conway Road and west of Pleasant Hill Road into tracts of 15.47 and 4.0 acres for Brenda Owensby.
Reelected Gil Aldrich as chairman, Tracy Tubbs as vice chairman and Em Barron as secretary.
