The turkey at left may seem wild, but Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge Manager Dwight Cooley said the white stripe at the tips of its tail feathers means it’s probably someone’s escaped, domesticated bird, which is usually the only kind of turkey people see in town. The turkey, which can fly a little, landed in a tree at Roger Clemons’ Hillside Road Southwest home Tuesday, falling under the eyes of a neighbor’s dog, above, who probably thought the potential Christmas feast flew a bit too well.
