A seemingly routine arrested turned into a struggle Monday afternoon for a Limestone County Sheriff's Department investigator.
Sheriff Mike Blakely said Investigator Brian Rubble was looking for Nicholas Lee Young, 20, of 13437 U.S. 72 W., a suspect in a bad-check case. Rubble spotted Young walking near Quinn and Blackburn roads, west of Athens, at about 4 p.m.
When Rubble went to arrest Young, Blakely said the suspect "became combative" and scratched the officer's eye during the struggle before getting away. Rubble then cut his leg on a fence during the chase. Another deputy arrived and the two apprehended the suspect.
Young is in Limestone County Jail, facing charges of resisting arrest, second-degree assault, five counts of writing bad checks and third-degree criminal mischief. Bond is $9,750.
