House in Trinity destroyed by fire

TRINITY — Trinity Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bill Pettey said flames were shooting out the windows of a home Tuesday night when firefighters arrived at the scene.

The blaze completely destroyed the interior of the residence at 1223 Old Highway 24, said Pettey. The homeowner, Danny Haley, his wife and his two children were in the home when the fire started between 9 and 9:45 p.m., but all got out safely.

Firefighters were on the scene for more than two hours to put out the fire that began in a back bedroom.

Haley said he suspects an electrical fire caused the damage, but the official cause is still under investigation.
