Insurer moving jobs to Alabama

BIRMINGHAM (AP) — Infinity Property and Casualty Corp. plans to consolidate its four U.S. call centers into one national operations center in Birmingham, a move that will create 500 jobs in the city.

The Birmingham-based auto insurer announced Tuesday that the center will be located at the former Vesta Insurance Group headquarters building in Liberty Park, which is within five miles of Infinity's headquarters. Infinity operates call centers in Birmingham, Cerritos, Calif., Alpharetta, Ga., and Irving, Texas. Infinity CEO Jim Gober said the company expects many employees to transfer to Birmingham.
