Decatur resident was walking in middle of Alabama 20

TRINITY — A Decatur woman was walking in the middle of a highway Sunday when a truck hit and killed her, said Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard.
Brenda Sue Hines, 49, was dead when Beard arrived on Alabama 20 in Trinity at 5:55 a.m., he said.
“She was walking right in the middle of the left lane on (Alabama) 20 around Landfill Road,” he said. Both Hines and the driver were traveling west.
Hines lived in Decatur but was staying at a house in Trinity, said Beard. She died only a few miles away from the home.
Beard said the driver was on his way to work in an older-model pickup when he struck Hines. The man was not injured and does not face any charges. Beard said limited visibility was a contributing factor.
“It was in the middle of (Sunday’s) heavy downpour, it was dark, and she had on dark clothing,” he said.
Trinity police have not determined why Hines was in the middle of the street. The investigation is ongoing, said Beard.
Officials transported the body to the state forensic lab for an autopsy and toxicology report.
