Cramer appointed to defense, transportation subcommittees
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer, D-Huntsville, was appointed Thursday to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. He will serve as a majority member.
The subcommittee determines funding for the military, its programs, systems and acquisitions.
"Redstone Arsenal and its partners are major drivers of the economy in North Alabama," said Cramer. "As a member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, I am now in an even stronger position to fight for Redstone."
Cramer also was named to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Housing and Urban Development, and to the new Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government.
Cramer, who begins his ninth term, is the longest serving representative from Alabama. He is also among the top 20 percent of House members for seniority. He has been a member of the House Appropriations Committee since 1998.
