Athens man wanted in Madison in jail
ATHENS — Limestone authorities arrested an Athens man wanted on kidnapping, sexual abuse and robbery charges in Madison County.
On Friday, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department arrested Walter Stuart McLin, 42, of 1204 Montreat Drive. Investigator Brad Curnutt said Madison County had an extradition hold on McLin for those charges. However, Madison police picked McLin up Friday afternoon, Curnutt said.
Curnutt did not have information about the case. Madison County Sheriff’s Department and Madison Police Department dispatchers said investigators would have to provide more information after the weekend.
Man linked to pill theft faces robbery
ATHENS — A man charged by Limestone County authorities for allegedly taking pills from his friend’s mother now also faces a robbery charge.
Athens police Lt. Floyd Johnson said Adam Blankenship, 22, of 1604 Grace Ave., Athens, allegedly entered a mobile home on Elm Street a couple of weeks ago to rob the homeowner and hit the homeowner in the head with a gun.
“The victim picked his picture out of a lineup,” Johnson said.
Police charged Blankenship after his Thursday arrest by the Sheriff’s Department on a theft charge after he allegedly took Xanax from his friend’s mother, according to Lt. Brad Curnutt.
Knife cuts send man to hospital
ATHENS — A man received knife cuts on his arm and shoulder Saturday evening during an altercation in Athens.
Athens police Lt. Floyd Johnson said there was “some kind of disturbance” on Jefferson Street near Airport Road, but investigators still were trying to determine what happened.
Johnson was interviewing a suspect Saturday night, and further details were not available.
Johnson did say an ambulance took the victim to Athens-Limestone Hospital, and he expected the hospital to release him.
