Riley appoints Nicholas to Cullman court

CULLMAN (AP) — Gov. Bob Riley has appointed attorney Gregory Nicholas to serve as Cullman County district court judge, replacing Judge Terri Willingham Thomas, who was elected to the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals.
The appointment of Nicholas, announced Tuesday, is effective Jan. 16.
Nicholas has been a partner in the Cullman firm of Nicholas & Nicholas since 2001. He has served as the city attorney for Good Hope since 1992 and as a special assistant attorney general since 1988.
He became a mediator in 2004 and has served as a special judge with the county probate court and the cities of Cullman and Hanceville.
