NARF/FEEA winners

Erica Cain of Decatur and Whitney Montgomery of Moulton have been awarded scholarships from the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund.

Cain is a 2006 graduate of Austin High School and is attending Mississippi State University. She is the daughter of Ray and Sandra Cain. Her grandparents are Ethel and Mack Weathersby.

Montgomery is a 2006 graduate of Lawrence County High School, where she was class valedictorian. She attends The University of Alabama. She is the daughter of John and Stephanie Montgomery and is the granddaughter of Betty Stephenson.

Paul earns degree

Andrew Lane Paul of Decatur received his bachelorís degree in electrical engineering from The University of Alabama on Dec. 16.

He graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society, the Eta Kappa Nu electrical engineering honor society, and the Golden Key International Honour Society.

Paul is now an engineer with Dynetics Inc. in Huntsville. He is the son of Glen and Virginia Paul of Decatur.

Stone honored

Aislinn Campbell Stone of Priceville was named to the deanís list at The University of South Alabama in Mobile for the 2006 fall semester. To be eligible, a student must maintain at least a 3.4 grade point average, with at least 48 hours completed.

Stone is pursuing a degree in accounting and is the daughter of Mike and Carolyn Campbell.

Harding honors

These area students were named to the deanís list at Harding University, Searcy, Ark., for the 2006 fall term.

Anna Barker, Katie Copeland, Mary Walker and Robert Walker. To be eligible for the list, a student must maintain at least a 3.65 grade point average.

Rural Medical Scholar

Josh Terry of Courtland is a 2006-07 Rural Medical Scholar at The University of Alabama and plans to enter the UA School of Medicine in the summer. He is a Hatton High School graduate, and in 2006 earned his bachelorís degree in chemistry and minored in math at The University of North Alabama.

Terry attended the Summer Medical Education Program at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and has shadowed physicians in an Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital program and through the Pre-med Society at UNA.

He is the son of Bobby and Laura Terry.

Troy honors

These area students have been named to the chancellorís and provostís lists at Troy University for the 2006 fall semester.

Chancellorís list: Amanda Barber of Decatur.

Provostís list: Gary Kolb of Decatur.

Judson deanís list

Ashley Campbell of Laceyís Spring and Kalah Turner of Decatur were named to the deanís list at Judson College for the 2006 fall term.

UWA honors

These local students at The University of West Alabama have been named to the presidentís and deanís lists for the 2006 fall semester.

Presidentís list: Jessica L. Pierce of Athens.

Deanís list: Jared E. Meals of Athens.

Samford deanís list

These area students have been named to the deanís list at Samford University for the 2006 fall semester.

Rachel Bennett, Megan Hodges, Laurel Matherly, Rachel Roberts, Victoria Stone, Amy Underwood, Andrew Villarreal and William Ward, all of Decatur; Marianne Hayes of Hartselle; Jeanne Cross of Moulton; and Brittney Hitt of Trinity.

Old Miss honors

These Decatur students have been named to the chancellorís and deanís honor rolls at The University of Mississippi for the 2006 fall semester.

Chancellorís roll: Joyce Nabors and Sydney Strickland.

Deanís roll: Jennifer Reed.
