2007 Decatur-Morgan minority association scholarship winners

Following are the 21 recipients of the 2007 Decatur-Morgan County Minority Development Association scholarships:

$500 supplemental scholarship — Erica Chambers (Clark University), Cordarrell Hammonds (Alabama State), Essence Martin (The University of Alabama), Adonica Stanton (Auburn University) and Jalesa Smith (University of North Alabama), all of Austin High; Brittany Nicholas (Calhoun Community College or Athens State University), Decatur High; Keneisha Young (Alabama State), Hartselle High; and Lametris Miller (Calhoun Community College), Courtland High and Allen Coleman III (Calhoun Community College), Decatur High.

$500 G.W. Garth Scholarship — Jonathan Gill (University of West Alabama), Lloydia Dossett (Calhoun Community College) and George Sales III (Art Institute), all of Decatur High; Jhauncey Woodruff (enrolled at Calhoun Community College), Austin High; and Bridgette Mayes (enrolled at Drake Technical College), West Morgan High.

$1,500 general scholarships — Tra’Nique Crawford (University of Alabama), Ashley Henderson (Albany State University), Tiffany Fain (Alabama State University) and Vanessa Kennedy (Alabama A&M University), all of Decatur High; and Paris Johnson (Carson-Newman College), Austin High.

$1,500 Russell Lee Priest Scholarship — Tommie Williams (Auburn University), Austin High; and Steven Wallace (The University of Alabama at Birmingham), Decatur High.

Six of the winners were attending another scholarship event in Montgomery and were unable to have their photographs made at Monday’s King Day event.
