4-car wreck injures 2

ATHENS — A four-vehicle wreck at Tanner Crossroads sent two people to the hospital Tuesday night, Athens police said.

A car southbound on U.S. 31 and a westbound car on Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road collided, according to Athens police Officer Charlie Clem. "The (westbound) car that got broad-sided spun around and bumped another car that was sitting at the red light. The car that was southbound stopped, and another car brushed the back of it."

MedFlight transported the driver of the southbound vehicle, Caprice Suzanne Thomas, 34, of Madison, to Huntsville Hospital, Clem said.

Thomas was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.

The driver of the westbound vehicle, Tomiko Yvette Hammons, 30, of Madison, was taken to Athens-Limestone Hospital by ambulance.

The drivers of the other vehicles were uninjured. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles.
