PRICEVILLE — Priceville Fire Chief Charles Black is looking for a few good men and women to become members of the Priceville Volunteer Fire Department.

Black, speaking Thursday at the Town Council meeting, said the department also welcomes youngsters to the Junior Firefighter program, which begins at age 16.

The chief said the department has about 45 firefighters. Anyone wishing to join the force should call the municipal building at 355-5476.

In an annual department update, Black told the council that the agency responded to 433 calls in 2006, including 267 fire-related calls and 166 emergency medical service calls.

He said workers completed renovation work at Fire Station No. 2 at Brooksville that included the addition of a 30-foot by 40-foot bay.

"The station is back in service with two trucks on site," he said. "During the two months the station was down, we relocated the trucks to Fire Station No. 1 for continued full fire coverage."

Black thanked the council and the community for responding to the department's call for donations.
