New Morgan County Superintendent Bob Balch will try again Monday to fill the vacant director of secondary education position.

Balch said he plans to re-nominate Vicki Smith, a Huntsville City Schools math specialist and former candidate for superintendent, at the Morgan County Board of Educationís 5 p.m. called meeting.

Balch recommended Smith at the boardís Jan. 11 meeting, but board Vice President Mike Tarpley failed to get a motion to approve her appointment. School board President Jimmy Dobbs did not attend the meeting.

Board members said they were upset that the new superintendent did not supply them with the necessary supporting information.

Balch said he also plans to present the board with a job description for a proposed testing coordinator. At past meetings, he also requested the board consider adding a personnel director position, but said he is still working on that job description and probably wonít have a proposal at Mondayís meeting.
