Local officials on European trip to recruit industry

Officials from Morgan and Limestone counties were expected back Thursday, following an industrial recruitment trip in Europe.

Decatur Mayor Don Kyle sent an e-mail to city department heads and elected officials last week, saying he would be out of the office Jan. 27-31. He was seen briefly at his City Hall office Wednesday afternoon, but didn't return phone calls.

Two Decatur officials familiar with the matter said the trip involved a stop in Austria and possibly one other European country.

Kyle was apparently accompanied by Morgan Commission Chairman John Glasscock, Morgan Economic Development Association President Jeremy Nails, Athens Mayor Dan Williams and Limestone Commission Chairman David Seibert.
