Decatur police arrested a Hartselle woman for allegedly shooting her cousin at a party, an investigator said Wednesday.

Tenishala Antwanette Orr, 22, of 1000 Mitweede St., Apartment K-6, faces one charge of second-degree assault in connection with the Jan. 20 shooting of Lateria Orr.

The cousins were at 220 Seventh Ave. S.W., Apartment No. 1, which Lateria Orr told police is a place people can go to party after the legal clubs have closed, at about 2 a.m., when they got into an argument, said Detective Jeremy Hayes.

As Lateria Orr began to leave the room, Tenishala Orr brandished a handgun of unknown make and model and shot her in the right arm, Hayes said.

The bullet entered the back of Lateria Orr's arm and exited through her right chest.

A friend took her to Decatur General Emergency Room, where she underwent surgery and was later released.

Tenishala Orr went to the police department Wednesday and turned herself in to Hayes, who had obtained a warrant for her arrest.

Morgan County Jail released Orr on Wednesday on $750 bond.
