Train strikes, kills man in Alabaster

ALABASTER (AP) — A man apparently asleep on railroad tracks was struck and killed by a CSX Transportation train Sunday morning in Alabaster.

Police said the incident happened shortly after 10 a.m. on tracks off U.S. Highway 31.

The train attempted to stop, but was unable to avoid hitting the man, whose identity was not immediately known, police said.
