Trinity rezones acres for Dollar General

TRINITY — The Trinity Town Council cleared the path for a Dollar General Store on Monday by rezoning 1.2 acres at 1334 Old Alabama 24.

The council approved 4-0 rezoning the property owned by Harold Blaxton Jr. from residential to general business. The vote followed a public hearing during which no one spoke. Mayor Vaughn Goodwin and Councilman Mark Brazelton were absent.

The property is at the top of Trinity Mountain, south of Old Alabama 24 and east of Mesa Drive. It is next door to Integrity Designs and across the road from Jeff's Groceries.

Robbie Martin of Martin-Aycock Properties in Muscle Shoals said the next step is for the Trinity Planning Commission to approve site plans at its Feb. 20 meeting.

Martin said he and his partner, Gene Aycock, have opened 40 to 50 stores in four states over the past several years.
