Moulton fire chief to retire in June

MOULTON — Moulton's fire chief is retiring effective June 1. Keith Vinson has been with the Moulton Fire Department for almost 24 years and has been fire chief since Nov. 7, 2002.

Vinson began his career as a volunteer firefighter and was later hired full time. He said he became interested in firefighting while watching his then-girlfriend's father, the late firefighter Lloyd McCulloch, when he was in high school. Vinson later married McCulloch's daughter, Board of Education member Beth Vinson.

Moulton officials have not hired a new fire chief but will start accepting applications in March.
