Man robs couple at knifepoint

A masked man entered a home through an unlocked door and brandished a knife on a couple in their 70s, Decatur police said Thursday.

The robbery took place in the 1800 block of Eighth Street Southeast at about 11:36 a.m. Wednesday.

"The woman let her dog out to do his business. She left the door unlocked when she let the dog back in," said Sgt. Steve Campbell.

A tall, heavyset black male wearing dark clothing and a ski mask entered through the unlocked kitchen door, produced a knife and demanded money, Campbell said.

The man went into the living room, where he robbed the woman's husband of his wallet, Campbell said.

The robber left through the same door he came in.

Campbell said the robbery remained under investigation Thursday.
