Ex-Alabama State University officials charged
BREWTON (AP) — The former director of Alabama State University's Southern Normal campus near Brewton and her husband were charged Friday with illegally using school resources for personal gain, court records show.
Margaret Bradley and Charles Bradley Jr. turned themselves in to authorities after the announcement of the former director's indictments on six counts of ethics violations, the Press-Register of Mobile reported on its Web site. Charles Bradley faces three counts of theft.
The Bradleys are accused of taking bricks from the school's campus to build a gazebo at their home and for the construction of a business they own.
Investigators said Charles Bradley also used inmates assigned to work at the school to work in other locations and received payment for the work himself.
