HULACO — Cullman County authorities are searching for two men they believe were involved in a shooting Saturday that left a Hulaco man with multiple wounds.

Cpl. Keith Marbut of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Department said a medical helicopter transported Brian Murphy, 26, of 201 Cullman County 1770 to Huntsville Hospital.

“He was shot multiple times in the abdomen and right upper leg,” Marbut said. “We’re uncertain of the type weapon used.”

At about 10:30 p.m., Marbut said two sheriff’s investigators at the hospital reported that Murphy was in stable condition.

Marbut declined to release the names of two suspects, but said authorities are looking for a light green or gray Mercury Mountaineer.

“We don’t have a tag number,” he said. “The home where the shooting occurred is the last Cullman County road before crossing into Morgan County on Alabama 67. Witnesses said the suspects drove back toward Alabama 67.”

Anyone with information about the vehicle should phone (256) 734-0342.
