Sylacauga police probe murder-suicide

SYLACAUGA (AP) — Sylacauga police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that may have occurred two weeks ago or longer.

Authorities said the bodies of Christopher Clay Williams and Sue Edward Williams, both 64, were found Wednesday in a back bedroom of their home.

Lt. Chris Carden said police believe Christopher Williams shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself. Investigators have yet to determine a motive.

Neighbor Margie Isbell told The Daily Home in a story Thursday that the couple generally kept to themselves. She said she hadn't seen either for some time and called police about 8:15 a.m. Wednesday to make sure the couple was all right.

Carden said police, the Talladega County district attorney's office and the county coroner agree the deaths appear to be the result of a murder-suicide.

He said they had been called to the house several times before, but was uncertain why officers were called or how those incidents were resolved.

Isbell said the Williamses were retired, but she was unsure how long they had lived there.

Carden said no one in the area reported hearing gunshots from the house at any time.
