Bike accident puts girl, 12, in ICU

An Oak Park Middle School cheerleader, Elizabeth Grace “Lily” Hess, 12, was injured Saturday morning while riding a bike. Lily was in the pediatric intensive care unit of Huntsville Hospital on Saturday and has a good prognosis, according to her grandmother, Charlotte Moores of Decatur.

The girl hit her head in the fall near her home at 1401 Clarendon Court S.E. and went by ambulance to the hospital, her grandmother said. Lily’s stepfather and mother are Jack and Kendal Moores.

Tree hits mobile home in Lawrence

A tree fell on a mobile home in the East Lawrence community Saturday night as storms moved through, but no one was injured, said Lawrence County EMA dispatcher Wendy Lovelady. The tree hit the home of Allen Richey at 22234 Lawrence County 460 about 7:30 p.m., according to Lovelady.

A severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch were in effect much of Saturday evening in the Tennessee Valley.

Brief power outages were reported in the Hartselle area before 10 p.m.
