Trinity planners OK subdivision plat

TRINITY — The Trinity Planning Commission on Monday approved a preliminary plat for 106-lot Stone Village subdivision, a single-family residential development at Tower Street and Old Alabama 24, west of West Morgan Elementary School.
"We're excited," said developer Jason Owens after the commission voted 8-0, authorizing him to begin infrastructure work at the 36-acre site. "Our subdivision has generated a lot of interest. We've already reserved 14 of the 56 lots that we'll develop initially."
Owens, who owns North Alabama Land Development and Valley Homes with his partner, Jeremiah Frost, said the first step after workers install the roads and utilities will be construction of a clubhouse, swimming pool, tennis court, basketball court and playground.
Owens said homes would range from 1,600 square feet to 2,200 square feet.
"They will start at $165,000 and go to $225,000," he said.
In another matter, the commission approved by a 7-0 vote the site plan for a Dollar General Store at 1334 Old Alabama 24. Building Inspector Joyce Hargiss abstained.
