Resolution mourns Oak Ridge soldier
A unanimous Alabama Senate passed a resolution Tuesday mourning the death of Cpl. Jon-Erik Loney.
The 21-year-old soldier from Oak Ridge died Nov. 28 in Iraq when a roadside bomb exploded near the Humvee he was driving.
Sen. Arthur Orr, R-Decatur, introduced the resolution.
Loney, a 2003 Danville High graduate, enlisted in the Army in February 2005. He was in the Salahuddin province moving toward Baghdad when he died.
Rep. Ronald Grantland, D-Hartselle, plans to introduce a companion resolution in the state House.
