ASMS open house

The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science will have an open house for middle school students March 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the schoolís Mobile campus.

School groups and individuals are welcome. Register online at www.asms.net.

Madhav on deanís list

Ajay R. Madhav of Decatur has been named to the deanís honor roll at Auburn University for the 2006 fall term.

He is a sophomore majoring in aerospace engineering and is the son of Ramesh and Bhakti Madhav.

Knox earns degree

The University of North Alabama has awarded a leadership scholarship to Jackson Jones Knox of Decatur.

He is a senior at Austin High School and is the son of Ronnie and Deanna Knox.

AHS guidance

The guidance department at Austin High School offers the following announcements. For more information on any notice, contact the high school.

Calhoun Community College: Calhoun is offering 300 scholarships. For more information or to apply online, see www.calhoun.edu.

Bishop Gaines Memorial Scholarship/Decatur Dixie Youth Baseball American League: To qualify, students must have participated in Decatur Dixie Baseball from DYB (American League) through Dixie Boys.

3M: Art competition for Austin High students. Deadline is March 30. P.I.E. committee scholarship, deadline is March 30.
