3 drug raids net 20 arrests, 1 dead dog

Twenty people were charged Friday and a pit bull fatally wounded, during three separate drug searches in Decatur.

Police said “several” people fled from the front porch of 209 Fifth Ave. N.W. when officers arrived.

One officer, who searched the home, shot and killed a charging 90-pound pit bull, police said.

Police charged 10 in the search and allegedly found crack cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Four face felony drug possession charges:

  • Spencer Oneal Johnson, 18, of 209 Fifth Ave. N.W.

  • Deshod Cortez Bolding, 18, of 420 10th St. S.W.

  • Darryl Dewayne Rogers, 18, of 1810 Locust St. S.E.

  • Police withheld the name and address of a 17-year-old boy.

    Police searched 705 Fifth Ave. S.E. and allegedly found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

    Officers arrested five but charged only one with a felony. Resident James B. Birgans Jr., 53, faces a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

    Police allegedly found crack cocaine and arrested five suspects during a search at 1812 Locust St. S.E.

    Officers charged two with felony drug possession, including resident Richard Sherman Kral, 43, and withheld the name and address of a 16-year-old boy.
